Summary

We're seeking an experienced and proactive Cybersecurity Technical Project Management Lead to oversee our information security initiatives, with a particular focus on the Iranian cyber threat landscape. This role requires a strategic project manager who can coordinate multiple security-focused projects while ensuring effective execution of analysis, technical implementations, partner engagement, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small technical team across multiple concurrent security and intelligence projects
• Shape the technical vision of our security efforts, with a focus on real-world applicability and adaptability
• Monitor and analyze current cybersecurity developments, with an emphasis on APTs, malware campaigns, data breaches, and geopolitical cyber activity relevant to Iran
• Actively maintain situational awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and leaks in both Iranian and broader regional cyber spheres
• Conduct or oversee basic threat research, scripting, infrastructure automation, and sysadmin tasks when needed
• Drive partner engagement: proactively reach out to researchers, organizations, and communities to build trust and collaboration
• Produce internal and external reports, project updates, and timelines with clarity and technical depth
• Support recruitment, mentorship, and development of junior technical staff
• Lead project management including coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables while reporting to donors and stakeholders
• Oversee content team and social media strategies for effective outreach while facilitating cross-team collaboration
• Develop strategic plans aligned with organizational goals, mitigate project risks, and perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in information security, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role
• Demonstrated knowledge of threat intelligence and APT groups, especially those operating in or targeting Iran
• Strong understanding of malware, TTPs, indicators of compromise, and threat actor motivations
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and basic systems administration (Linux preferred)
• Proven ability to manage timelines, write reports, and communicate technical concepts to varied audiences
• Comfortable taking initiative, solving problems independently, and stepping in where hands-on work is needed
• Experience cultivating partnerships and engaging with external stakeholders in the cyber/information security space

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference for candidates with strong familiarity with the Iranian cyber threat landscape
• Farsi language skills
• Prior experience working in non-profit, civil society, or journalism-related security contexts

• Experience with AI and third-party software integrations
• Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
• Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools
